A woman, who has 53 previous convictions and is presently serving a jail term, received a further ten months in prison for theft when the case was heard at a recent sitting of Roscommon District Court.
Lisa Nevin, 4 Camlin View, Longford appeared in custody before Judge James Faughnan charged with stealing groceries to the value of €144.70 on June 22nd, 2024 at Lidl, Lanesboro Road, Roscommon.
A plea was entered in the case. The court heard the defendant made full admissions at the time.
Solicitor Ivan Moran said his client is presently serving a sentence and is due out in April. He said she stole as she did not have money. “They were household items,” he explained to the court. He said the defendant is married with four children.
The court heard that no compensation had been paid.
Based on her previous convictions, Judge Faughnan said he was imposing the 10 month prison term and fixed recognisances in the event of an appeal.
