As many as 60 dustbins can be on the road, halfway between Knockcroghery and Lecarrow (L7134) in the early morning, Cllr Laurence Fallon told a recent meeting of the Athlone Municipal District.

“Dustbins are being picked up and replaced casually as they would be and it’s intolerable where people are coming out at 8 or 9 o’clock,” said Cllr. Fallon.

“I would ask that we write to the company involved and ask them if they would look at making a collection down that road, it’s a great stretch of road. There is no possibility of looking around these dustbins the way they are being abandoned.”

Cllr Emer Kelly seconded and said that it is a problem and the bins are collected at around 6 a.m..
