Some quack! Dogs herding geese on a Roscommon farm!

Donie Anderson herding geese with his sheepdogs at today's Irish National Sheepdog Trials in Brideswell.

One man and his dogs really caught the eye at today’s Irish National Sheepdog Trials in Brideswell when they showed some very unique skills in herding a gaggle of geese!

Dublin native Donie Anderson and his dogs work with geese, and not surprisingly are in great demand for appearances at all types of events across the country.

Hosted by the International Sheep Dog Society (ISDS), the 2025 national trials took place on the Lisbrock farm of Barra O’Brien from Thursday to Saturday, August 7th to 9th.

Over the course of the last three days, 150 of Ireland’s best sheep dogs and their handlers showcased their skills.

The competitors were vying for a place on the Irish national team that will compete at the International Sheepdog Trials in Wales in September.
