Castlerea based company Nice Ice Cream won a number of medals at the Irish Food Awards while also taking the overall title for Best Start Up.

Four local producers took home coveted Blas medals at the recent Irish Food Awards with one winning an overall award.

The bronze, silver and gold winners from the county included Do Me A Flavour, Nice Ice Cream, Oliver Carty & Family and Waldron Family Meats. Castlerea based Nice Ice Cream was awarded Best in County, sponsored by Roscommon Local Enterprise Office and the overall title for Best Start Up.

The makers of Noble Ice Cream also won silver and bronze medals. Brideswell’s Waldron Family Meats took home gold while a gold medal was also awarded to Monksland’s Do Me A Flavour.

Monksland based Oliver Carty & Family took a number of awards including two bronze and two silver.

Following their award as Best Start Up Nice Ice Cream stated: “To say we’re humbled and excited would be an understatement. This is a huge validation for our team’s hard work, passion, and belief in what we’re creating.

“Thank you to everyone who’s been cheering us on — our supporters, our community, our team, and everyone who believes in good, honest flavour.”

Noble Ice Cream is a family-run business operated by Alexander Kuzminov and Juliya Kuzminova specialising in the production of 100% natural, artisan ice cream and is based at An Chistin Food Hub in Castlerea.

"Congratulations to Nice Ice Cream on their well-deserved award at Blas na hÉireann 2025,” said Enda Cannon, senior enterprise development officer. Local Enterprise Office Roscommon and Roscommon County Council are delighted to be associated with Alexander’s and Juliya’s success. Their commitment to crafting all-natural, handmade ice cream has already set them apart even at such early stage of their business’s development. This award is testament to their commitment and passion to make Noble Ice cream a success.”
