Timeframe sought for Dromod train station works

To date there has been no timeline given as to when the works will commence.

An update has been sought on long awaited works at Dromod train station, which include a new walkway and lift.

At last week’s meeting of Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal District Cllr Sean McGowan called on Leitrim County Council to contact Jim Meade, chief executive of Iarnród Éireann, requesting a time frame for the installation of the new footbridge and lift at the station.

“This has been committed to by the company for the past number of years. Planning is in place, but to date there has been no timeline given as to when the works will commence,” said Cllr McGowan.

Planning permission was granted in April, with the project being funded by the National Transport Authority.

The planned development will also result in the removal of ten parking spaces, the relocation of three designated parking bays, and the installation of a new waiting shelter on platform two.
