Motorists are being advised to exercise caution on the N61 following an accident this evening.
Earlier this evening, the council said that following the accident, it was installing traffic lights on the N61, between Tulsk & Clooneyquin, and reducing the carraigeway to a single lane only for the remainder of today “and until such time that necessary repairs are complete”.
This message was shared by local councillors Sean Moylan and Valerie Byrne.
Roscommon County Council will be putting up lights and reducing the road to a single lane only for the remainder of the night, and until such time as the road can be reopened, the Fianna Fáil councillor said.
Works are being carried out to repair the road, said Cllr Byrne.
“Lights are in place, and traffic is reduced to one lane for tonight or until it is safe to travel on the road again.”
Gardaí have been contacted for comment.
