Voter turnout appears low around the constituency
The voter turnout throughout the constituency continued to increase this evening, however, it remained under 50%.
Voters are being asked to choose Ireland’s tenth president, either Independent Catherine Connolly or Fine Gael's Heather Humphreys. Fianna Fáil's Jim Gavin remains on the ballot despite withdrawing from the race.
As of 7.30 this evening, South Roscommon had a voter turnout of 45.7%, with Roscommon Town on 35.7% and Castlerea on 35.1%.
Boyle had a turnout of 39% and Ballaghaderreen had a turnout of 25%.
In Ballinasloe, 31% of eligible voters have turned out to cast their vote.
Voters have until 10pm to cast their ballot.
