Watch: Ballyforan Greenway officially opens
The entrance of the new Ballyforan Greenway.
It was fantastic day for the South Roscommon village of Ballyforan as its new 3km greenway was officially opened this afternoon.
The greenway, which goes across the picturesque Derryfadda bog, cost €1 million with 85 per cent of the funding coming from the Just Transition Fund (JTF). The remaining 15 per cent is to come from match fundraising. The project is already proving very popular with visitors and locals alike.
Following years of work by the Ballyforan Area Transition Team and other organisations in the area, the new amenity was officially opened by Minister of State Alan Dillon, with the help of local children.
