Watch: Roscommon teenager competes in iconic Dublin Horse Show

A County Roscommon teenager is to take part in the iconic Dublin Horse Show today.
Sixteen year old Zara Sharkey, from Castlerea, took two ponies, I Flex and Jubel De Nev, to this year's show, which is being held in the RDS, with Castlerea Community College wishing her the best of luck.
As Zara explained this is her sixth year qualifying for the competition, a remarkable achievement.
“I mainly spend all my time dedicated to the ponies. Since my junior cert is over and I am going into TY, it will give me a lot more time to focus on the yard,” she said.
She began her journey when she was around four years old, and she recalled one of her first ponies, Lisboy Black Magic.
“She was one in a million. She brought me to Dublin in 2021 and 2022, and I was placed both years,” she said. “No matter how many times you jump in the main ring in Dublin, you always want to go back for more.”
