The Irish Hot Air Balloon Championships which began at the weekend runs until next Friday

A spectacular fireworks display illuminated the night sky over Boyle on Saturday evening as crowds gathered to celebrate the commencement of the 54th Irish Hot Air Balloon Championships at Lough Key Forest Park.

The breathtaking display, which was visible across the town and surrounding areas, brought a fitting start to one of Ireland’s most colourful and anticipated aviation events.

Drone footage shot by David McGee captured the scale and beauty of the fireworks from above.

The Irish Hot Air Balloon Championships which began at the weekend runs until next Friday.
