Witness appeal after serious road traffic collision in Mayo
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the serious accident.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision involving five vehicles on the N60 near Balla, Co Mayo on Thursday.
Shortly after 12.15 p.m., Gardaí and emergency services responded to a road traffic collision involving three cars, a van and an articulated truck on the N60 Castlebar to Balla road at Smuttanagh, Manulla.
The driver of one of the cars, a woman in her 50s, was brought by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital, where her condition is described as critical. The passenger and only other occupant of that car, a male in his 60s, was brought to hospital as a precaution.
No other injuries were reported at the time.
A technical examination of the scene was carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has since fully reopened.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage from the N60 Castlebar to Balla road and Manulla area between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m., are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
