Young man dies in County Galway road collision

Gardai are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision in County Galway.
A motorist in his 20s died and another motorist was seriously injured in a road collision at Milltown, County Galway earlier this morning
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the fatal road traffic collision on the N17 at Milltown today, Friday September 19th
The collision, involving a car and a van, occurred at Drum shortly after 8 a.m..
The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A post mortem examination will be arranged at the morgue at University Hospital Galway.
The driver of the van, a man in his 50s, was airlifted to UHG for treatment of serious injuries.
The road is closed between Milltown and Ballindine pending a technical examination by garda forensic collision investigators.
Diversions are in place at the Milltown road roundabout in Tuam, and in Ballindine
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 7.45 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. on Friday are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
