PSNI officer arrested over alleged abuse of position for sexual purposes

A serving PSNI officer has been arrested on charges relating to alleged abuse of position for sexual purposes.

The Police Ombudsman confirmed on Thursday that their investigators had charged the officer on suspicion of misconduct in public office following the concerns raised.

The arrest and search operation was made following a referral from the chief constable that was made to the ombudsman in May.

The PSNI signalled they would co-operate with the ongoing investigations.
