Roscommon student wins prestigious scholarship to study in France

A County Roscommon student will be spending the first three months of the new school term in France following her win in a very prestigious scholarship programme.
Third Year student of French at the Convent of Mercy, Roscommon, Emily O’Gara entered the EIL competition last November, along with hundreds of other participants from Ireland.
Emily went through many rounds of application forms, references, essays and interviews. By February, it was down to the last seven candidates, and Emily was selected as the final winner.
She will spend the first three months of TY in September attending school in France and living with a French family in the Drôme region of the south of France.
In December, she will attend a conference of young language learners for a week in Brussels, Belgium.
