Championship games to clash with Roscommon intermediate ladies’ team All-Ireland final

A number of opening round games in the Roscommon Senior, Intermediate and Junior A Football Championships are set to take place on Sunday, August 2nd — the same day that the Roscommon intermediate ladies’ football team play Fermanagh in their All-Ireland final in Croke Park.
While the senior championship game between St. Faithleach’s and Castlerea St. Kevin’s has been moved to 7.30 p.m. on Sunday evening, there are four Junior A championship games taking place around the same time Finbar Egan’s side will be trying to win the county’s first intermediate title since 2005.
Games between Ballinameen and Boyle B and Kilbride and Roscommon Gaels B are scheduled to start at 1 p.m., meaning they will directly clash with the Roscommon ladies’ 1.45 p.m. throw-in time at GAA headquarters.
The game between St. Dominic’s B and St. Aidan’s in Knockcroghery is down for 12.30 p.m., while Western Gaels B hosts Kilglass Gaels in Frenchpark at 3 p.m..
The intermediate championship game between Kilmore and St. Croan’s in Croghan has a 5 p.m. start.
It is understood that Roscommon GAA offered clubs alternative time slots to play their games that weekend, including Bank Holiday Monday (August 3rd), but with five games taking place on Friday evening and some clubs’ first teams also involved on Saturday, no compromise could be reached.
