County Roscommon area toasts 'huge' Community Games success

A County Roscommon area is toasting Community Games success, and is already setting their sights on the National Finals next month.

The Taughmaconnell U-12 girls’ seven-a-side soccer team were crowned provincial champions in Tuam, County Galway, swatting aside their opponents en route to glory.

A 4-0 Connacht semi-final success against Sligo outfit, Rosses Point, was followed by a 6-1 triumph in the final against Galway’s Oranmore/Maree.

The team included April Fox, Aoibheann Daly, Meadbh Finneran, Roisín Cleary, Kayla Galvin and Amy Grehan, Alice Galvin, Ella Grehan, Robyn Brooks and Laura Lyons.

Coaches Catherine Lyons and Louise Brooks stated that Taughmaconnell was immensely proud of the girls’ "huge" achievement as they turn their attention to the National Finals on Sunday, August 24th.
