Egan steps down as county intermediate ladies’ football manager

Finbar Egan has stepped down as Roscommon intermediate ladies’ football manager, just a week after leading the team to All-Ireland glory in Croke Park.

Roscommon LGFA confirmed the news on Sunday evening, thanking the Clann na nGael clubman “for the huge amount of time, effort and commitment” he had given to the role over his two years at the helm.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Finbar. His professionalism, enthusiasm and genuine commitment to the players have been clear throughout his time as manager, and he leaves his role, having made a lasting contribution to Roscommon LGFA,” said Roscommon LGFA.

Roscommon were beaten by 22 points in the Connacht final in May, but turned things around spectacularly, culminating in getting the better of Fermanagh by 2-12 to 0-6 at GAA headquarters to secure the county’s first intermediate title since 2005 last Sunday.

They will ply their trade at senior level in 2027, but will have a new manager at the helm.
