KILGLASS GAELS

A POST OF APPRECIATION: As the men’s football season ended a few weeks back and the dust has settled on the 2023 campaign, the club would like to take this opportunity to thank manager Trevor McDonagh and selectors Keith McGuire and Nigel Bushell for their hard work and dedication to the team over the year. The club was very lucky to have three men whose passion for GAA and Kilglass is unmatched. Trevor and Nigel both played for Kilglass, winning many titles but the big one was the intermediate title in 1999. Trevor captured titles as a manager with the club too. Keith, who hails from Carrickedmond, adopted the club like it was his own. Trevor took over the role at the start of 2023 and although the goal of winning the championship was not reached, there were loads of positives to take from the year. The club were just short of promotion in the league and lost out in the championship semi-final to the eventual champions. Sometimes it’s important to look at the bigger picture when you don’t reach your target and see the progress that has been made and be proud of it. There is sadness around the club that the group will not be continuing into 2024 but all of you will have a fantastic future in management and Kilglass Gaels wishes you all the best going forward. So to Trevor, Keith, Nigel and the backroom team and all who contributed to the 2023 team, thank you for everything.

Unfortunately, Tara and Niamh met in the quarter-final of the 12 & under grade, and despite a valiant effort by Tara, Niamh came out on the winning side. Niamh went on to win her semi-final but lost out in a tiebreaker in the final. Eoin reached the semi-final stage in his grade. Adam and Alanna Coggeran represented UL in the Varsity doubles tournament in Croke Park. Adam and his doubles partner Clíodhna O'Connell showed great skill, determination, and focus to win the Men's B event.
