County Roscommon club thanks rivals for ‘care and support’ towards injured player

St. Brigid’s GAA Club has thanked South Roscommon rivals Pádraig Pearses for the “care and support” they showed towards one of their injured players last weekend.
Defender Seán Trundle suffered a serious ankle injury in the early stages of the club’s Roscommon SFC quarter-final against Roscommon Gaels at the home of Pádraig Pearses GAA Club in Woodmount on Sunday afternoon.
In a statement on social media, St. Brigid’s thanked Pearses — the club they beat in last year’s county final after a replay — for the “fantastic level of care and support” given to Trundle before he was brought to hospital.
“On behalf of all at St. Brigid's GAA, we would like to thank Pádraig Pearses, in particular the club's Chairperson, Teresa (Fitzgibbon), in relation to the care and support they provided to Seán Trundle.
“Unfortunately, Seán suffered an injury during the game, but Pádraig Pearses provided him with a fantastic level of care and support.
“They’re a credit to the club and GAA, as they showed him compassion and help in a difficult moment.
“We would like to wish Seán a timely recovery and we know he has the support of the whole club,” the statement concluded.
