The fixtures for the third round of games in this year’s Roscommon Senior and Intermediate Football Championships have been confirmed by Roscommon GAA.
Group A and Group B of the senior football championship will be decided on Friday evening next, August 30th. All four games throw in at 8 p.m..
In Group A, Roscommon Gaels will be looking to cement top spot with a victory against Tulsk in Tarmonbarry.
In the other game in Strokestown, Castlerea St. Kevin’s tackle Oran, with a direct passage to the quarter-finals the prize for the winner.
An Oran victory would leave Castlerea sweating on the result from the other game, while a Castlerea victory will send Oran to the relegation play-offs.
In Group B, St. Brigid’s will be expected to top the group when they meet Western Gaels in Lisnamult. Michael Glaveys meet St. Faithleach’s in the other game in Ballyforan.
Outside of Brigid’s being in the box seat to top the group, there’s still plenty to play for, with St. Faithleach’s meeting Western Gaels in a rescheduled first round game in Ballyleague on Saturday (tomorrow) evening at 5 p.m..
Group C will be decided on Saturday evening with both games down for decision at 6 p.m..
Clann na nGael can confirm top spot with a win against St. Dominic’s in Knockcroghery. The home side are already resigned to the relegation play-offs.
There will be much more on the line in Woodmount when Pádraig Pearses meet Boyle in a repeat of last year’s semi-final, which Boyle won.
The winner here will qualify directly for the quarter-finals, with the loser heading for the preliminary quarter-finals.
