Tulsk avenged their four-point defeat against St. Dominic’s in the group stages of this year’s McNulty’s Furniture Intermediate Football Championship to reach this year’s decider in three weeks’ time after a two-point victory against their Knockcroghery-based rivals in Lisnamult on Saturday evening.

Liam McNeill’s side will play Éire Óg or St. Michael’s in the final, and they look primed for that encounter after their exciting 2-13 to 0-17 victory at the home of Roscommon Gaels GAA Club.

A red card for St. Dominic’s forward, Daire Keenan, was one of the game’s major talking points, but Anthony Kelly’s side — inspired by the introduction of Cian Duggan — were still able to mount a stirring second-half comeback that just fell short.

Tulsk’s first-half performance ultimately decided the outcome.

Two Ruairí Kilcline points enabled Dominic’s to establish an early three-point buffer but Thomas O’Rourke’s tenth minute goal got the winners motoring.

Dominic’s evening didn’t improve when Keenan received his marching orders moments after a point from Dylan Gaughan.

Tulsk took over and went 1-9 to 0-5 ahead at the break, with O’Rourke’s lucrative haul of 1-3 central to that prosperity on the scoreboard, not to mention the platform laid by Gaughan, Evan Flynn and Padraig Scott in the half-back line.

A goal from Gavin Gallaghan moved Tulsk even further ahead, but the introduction of Cian Duggan ignited a Dominic’s comeback — the Roscommon CBS All-Ireland Colleges’ winner hitting 0-9 in the second-half, including four two-pointers (two from play and two from frees).

In the game’s dying embers, the margin was down to a point, but Evan Flynn’s late score ensured Tulsk were back in their first final since winning the competition in 2019.
