Former Roscommon footballer makes Ireland Masters cut

A former Roscommon senior footballer has been selected on the Ireland Over 40s men’s squad for next year’s Masters International Rules Series against Australia.
Former Elphin player Conor Beirne, who also plied his trade with the London senior footballers, has been selected on the squad for two test matches which will take place featuring both men’s and women’s Over 40s teams.
The men’s Over 50s team will also be in action and includes Kilmore native Anthony Carroll as part of the management team.
The Australian Over 40s management team includes Jason Akermanis who was engaged in an infamous running battle with Peter Canavan over four senior tests in 1999 and 2000.
The first test will take place in Mullagh, County Galway on March 9th, with the second a week later in Denn, County Cavan on March 16th.
