St. Brigid’s came from eight points down in the final 11 minutes to edge past Clann na nGael in a dramatic Connacht Gold U-14 Division One football final in Woodmount on Thursday evening.
Clann na nGael were seemingly on their way to victory when Mark Macken’s goal procured a 4-6 to 1-7 lead at the three-quarter stage.
But Brigid’s produced a rousing comeback, hitting an unanswered 1-6, with the winning goal coming from joint captain Matthew Fox in the fourth minute of injury time.
Both clubs are due to meet again in this year’s U-16 Division One final, which takes place at the same venue on Monday evening.
