Former Roscommon Intermediate ladies football manager Ollie Lennon has extended his deep gratitude to the many people who have helped him during his three years in charge of the county’s flagship side.

In a statement issued to the Roscommon Herald, Lennon thanked his backroom team and the clubs who helped the players during his time at the helm.

“It was a huge honour for me to manage my county at adult level I will be forever grateful to Brendan Cregg and Marie McAleer (RIP) for giving me the opportunity to do so in 2021.

"In light of me stepping away as manager of the Roscommon Intermediate Ladies team, I would like to thank a number of people that have helped me over the last three years.

“Thank you to all the clubs that made their facilities available to us and who always facilitated us regardless of weather conditions.

“Thank you to all my backroom teams who made my role very easy over the three years. Their amazing work went above and beyond what was expected from them and each and every one of them has nothing but the best of intentions for Roscommon LGFA.

“Tom Lennon, Aidan Main, Brian Lennon and John Kennedy (all coaches), Shane McDermott (S&C), Gerry Morris (Kit man) and Liz Hanly (FLO) were all a phenomenal support.

“Thank you to Ciara O’Malley, Nadine Connolly, Adrian Fitzpatrick and Sarah O’Doherty who always ensured that players’ injuries were looked after in a very professional manner.

“Thank you to Tony Scapattici who provided food for the girls after training and games.”

Lennon continued by acknowledging the support of local businesses and his “four biggest supporters.”

“Thank you to all the local businesses that supported the ladies and particularly the support we received in the lead up to our All-Ireland quarter final.

“A word of thanks to the current executive for their support and I wish them well going forward with all the LGFA teams. Also, we received tremendous backing from our supporters throughout my time in charge so a word of thanks to them also.

“Thank you to my four biggest supporters; my wife Maria and three boys Oisin, Fionn and Eanna who accepted that I would be spending time away from home to carry out the role. They were mine and the girls’ biggest supporters."

The Pádraig Pearses clubman concluded by wishing the players every success in the future.

“Finally, a big thank you to all the players who have given everything to the team over the last three years. You are all a credit to yourself your families and your clubs. I would like to wish each of you the very best of luck in both your personal and sporting careers in the future.

“I now look forward to being a supporter of the Roscommon Intermediate ladies team and want to wish them the very best of luck in 2025 and beyond.”
