Picture becomes a little clearer in local football championships

Castlerea St. Kevin’s and Western Gaels will possibly have two bites of the cherry in a bid to secure their senior football championship status after the relegation play-off draws were made on Sunday evening.
The neighbouring clubs will face off in a relegation semi-final, with the loser set to face St. Dominic’s to see who retains their senior status.
In the preliminary quarter-finals of the SFC, Elphin will play North Roscommon, while reigning champions, Pádraig Pearses, will face Oran.
Meanwhile, St. Brigid’s, after being surprisingly beaten by Michael Glaveys on Friday evening, will face a blockbuster quarter-final clash against Clann na nGael, Boyle or Roscommon Gaels after the latter was drawn as the fourth seeded team for the quarter-final draw.
In the IFC, St. Michael’s got the lucky ticket as the fourth seeded team for the quarter-final draw.
In the preliminary quarter-finals, Kilmore have received a bye into the last eight, leaving Shannon Gaels and Creggs to battle it out for the final quarter-final place.
In the relegation play-offs, Kilbride will meet Pádraig Pearses, with the winner securing safety and the loser left to face St. Barry’s to see who is relegated to the Junior A championship.
In the Junior A Football Championship, Boyle will join St. Aidan’s, St. Croan’s and Ballinameen as the seeded teams for the quarter-final draw.
Western Gaels have received a bye into the quarter-finals, with the last remaining place to be decided by a play-off between St. Brigid’s and St. Ronan’s
