Roscommon GAA made a profit of just over €300,000 from its Win a Home in Kildare draw at the end of last year.

Club delegates at a county board meeting earlier this week were told that the net profit from the draw — which saw Gerry and Mairead O’Brien from Ashbourne, County Meath, win a home in Newbridge worth €360,000 — amounted to €303,799.

Tickets were sold in 28 countries around the world, and ticket sales brought in a total of €818,300.

Prizes and costs amounted to €514,501 — the bulk of which was made up of prizes (70%) and digital advertising (20%).

Sixty-one per cent of all tickets sold were from outside County Roscommon, although the top-selling county was, not surprisingly, Roscommon.

Other counties (from 2-10) in the top ten in terms of ticket sales were Dublin, Kildare, Galway, Meath, Cork, Mayo, Westmeath, Wicklow, and Longford.

Money raised from the Win A Home in Kildare fundraiser will be used to build the Dermot Earley Centre of Excellence just outside Roscommon Town.

Work on the project is expected to get underway later this year.
