A County Roscommon GAA Club has said that it is “proud” of three brothers who played senior championship football together for the first time last weekend.
Luke, Dylan and Conor Ruane lined out for Michael Glaveys during their thrilling 0-14 to 0-13 victory against Western Gaels in Frenchpark.
It was the first time the three brothers had started a senior football championship match together.
Dylan, a well-known Roscommon senior footballer, kicked 0-3 from play, while Luke pitched in with a point from wing-back.
The Ruane brothers follow in the footsteps of families like the Dalys from Pádraig Pearses, the Murtaghs from St. Faithleach's, the Dolans from St. Brigid's, the Lohans from Kilbride, and Creggs from Elphin who have seen three or more siblings play together on their clubs’ respective senior football championship teams since the turn of the Millennium.
