With the Club Championship action underway, Roscommon GAA players who are spending their Summer overseas have enjoyed a successful weekend.

Ciaráin Murtagh and Daire Cregg were key members of the Donegal Boston team that defeated Connemara Gaels in the Senior Final of the Boston GAA Championship.

St. Faithleach’s Murtagh and Boyle’s Cregg helped Donegal Boston to victory in what was the club’s sixth year in a row competing in the flagship final. The duo both kicked three points in their side’s semi final triumph over Aidan McAnespies.

Cregg provided the assist for Sean Lowry’s opening half goal as Donegal Boston cantered to a 1-19 to 0-11 victory.

Meanwhile, Cian McKeon also enjoyed success in Chicago at the weekend. The Boyle clubman was part of the Wolfe Tones outfit that claimed the Chicago GAA Championship as his side defeated McBride’s 4-15 to 2-18.

McKeon was heavily involved in the move that led to his side’s crucial third goal. The win ensures that Wolfe Tones will now progress to the US GAA Finals in San Francisco.

Eoghan O’Connell, son of Eugene and Mary O’Connell from Ballindrimley, Castlerea, who plays his football with Castlerea St. Kevin’s, was part of the Irish Warriors men’s team that beat the USA in the grand final of the Transatlantic Cup in Canada. The Irish Warriors enjoyed a comfortable 9.10.64 to 3.8.26 victory.
