A Roscommon hurler recently lined out against the county his grandfather helped to All Ireland glory.

Finn Killion started in the Roscommon attack on Sunday against Wicklow as Kevin Sammon’s men fell to a 4-19 to 2-13 defeat on away soil.

Finn’s grandfather John Torpey helped Wicklow win the 1967 All-Ireland Junior Hurling title as they defeated London in a replay.

The goalkeeper subsequently moved to Clare where he played club hurling up until the age of 52.

John founded the hurl making business ‘Torpey Hurleys’ in 1981 with the business continuing to lead the way in the manufacturing of hurls.
