The Roscommon Ladies footballers fell just short in an enthralling TG4 All-Ireland intermediate quarter-final this afternoon against Leitrim in Ballinamore.
Roscommon managed playing against the wind well in the first half to go in trailing by 1-7 to 1-5 at half time.
Ollie Lennon introduced Aisling Shanagher and Lauren Shanagher early in the second half who both made instant impacts, and an effective high press on the Leitrim kickout flipped the momentum of the game.
Inside forwards Aisling Hanly and Aimee O'Connor combined for 3-7 keeping Roscommon within touching distance of Leitrim for the second half.
But the away side will regret the 6 wides they kicked with the aid of the wind in the second half.
Leitrim survived a late Roscommon period of dominance to emerge as two point victors.
A presentation was made to goalkeeper Helena Cummins who made her 100th appearance for Roscommon after the game.
