St. Brigid's come good to secure another underage title

The St. Brigid's U-16 footballers secured the club's third underage football title in five days when they finished with a flourish to get the better of Clann na nGael, 1-12 to 0-7, in Monday evening's Connacht Gold Division One final at Woodmount.
The sides were deadlocked at 0-5 apiece after 43 minutes when a moment of quality changed the game — James O'Brien making a spectacular catch before setting up Luke Keenan for a match-changing goal.
St. Brigid's never looked back after that, with Keenan ending up with 1-3, while O'Brien landed a booming two-pointer late on.
At the break, Clann led 0-4 to 0-3 in a low-scoring opening half where defences were on top in the greasy conditions.
Rian Mulvihill grabbed his side's only point from play over the hour in the 25th minute.
But once Keenan pounced for his goal just shy of the three-quarter stage, there was no stopping Brigid's as they added more silverware to an already-bulging trophy cabinet, having secured the U-14 Division One and Minor Division Three championships in recent days.
