St. Brigid’s GAA Club has said that the clash of fixtures involving its senior men’s and football teams this Saturday is beyond its control.

The club’s senior ladies’ football team are away to Glencar Manorhamilton in their Connacht LGFA semi-final at 1 p.m., while the senior men’s team meet Pádraig Pearses in the county senior football final replay in King and Moffatt Dr. Hyde Park at 2.30 p.m..

There are numerous families in the Kiltoom/Cam parish linked to both teams, meaning that they will have to choose between the two big games.

In a statement, St. Brigid’s said that it was proud that both its senior teams were in competitive action on November 1st, adding that it would keep supporters updated on both games throughout the day.

“It is extremely unfortunate that there is a fixture clash and every effort has been made by the club to avoid the games clashing. However, it is beyond our control.

“We thank Roscommon GAA County Board for doing all within their power in trying to avoid this clash.

“We know how much our fantastic supporters wish to cheer on both teams in person. However, we will have Twitter updates available from both games to ensure that everyone is kept up to speed throughout the early afternoon.

“We hope that our supporters can give both teams a welcome back in the clubhouse on Saturday night.

“We are so proud of our senior teams and we wish them both the very best of luck on Saturday,” concluded the statement.
