St. Nathy’s College have progressed through to the Connacht Post Primary Schools Senior B final.

The Ballaghaderreen school secured a 2-12 to 2-8 victory over St. Attracta’s College at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence last night (Wednesday) as Ballinameen's Dean Casey kicked 1-6 for the winners.

It was St. Nathy’s strong start that helped them power to victory. Their opening two scores were both goals as Ryan O'Sullivan and Casey both found the net to help their side move 2-0 to 0-1 in front.

The Ballaghaderreen based school continued to dominate surging 2-7 to 0-3 in front before a quick 1-1 before the break left the Sligo school six back at the interval.

St. Nathy’s showed their poise as O'Sullivan slotted over a pair of two-pointers to keep their foes at arm’s length before a penalty save by Western Gaels' Patrick Gaynor kept the winners in a healthy position.

Even though St. Attracta’s found the net late on, it was St. Nathy’s College who progressed through to a Connacht final against Ballyhaunis CS or St. Joseph’s of Galway on Saturday, February 14.

Despite a gutsy effort, St. Nathy’s were defeated in the Connacht LGFA Junior C final.

They were beaten by Jesus and Mary Salerno Salthill 5-12 to 5-8 after extra time, with the contest deadlocked at 3-7 apiece in what was a thrilling contest.
