Top Roscommon referee on comeback trail after injury

One of County Roscommon’s top GAA referees is on the comeback trail after nearly a year out of action through injury.
Paddy Neilan, who was linesman and stand-by referee for the 2022 All-Ireland senior football final between Kerry and Galway, suffered a foot injury during an Allianz Football League game between Cavan and Down at Kingspan Breffni in early March 2023.
However, the
understands that Neilan is in contention to officiate at games in the final rounds (Rounds 5, 6 and 7) of this year’s Allianz Football League, having passed the required fitness test in recent weeks.It is hoped that he will also be in contention to officiate in championship games later this summer.
