Two Roscommon players receive All-Star nominations

Roscommon’s reward for winning this year’s Connacht Senior Football Championship has resulted in two All-Star nominations.
Diarmuid Murtagh and Darragh Heneghan are among the 45 nominees for this season’s PwC GAA Football All-Stars, which were announced this morning, Tuesday.
It is Murtagh’s second nomination following a stellar year as captain where he led Roscommon to the Nestor Cup.
He was also one of the key performers during the Rossies’ Division One League campaign where Mark Dowd's charges secured their top-flight status for 2027.
The St. Faithleach’s forward was previously nominated in 2024.
It’s a first nomination for Michael Glavey's forward, Darragh Heneghan, who enjoyed a debut season to remember, electrifying this year’s provincial championship with five goals, including two in the Connacht final against Galway at King and Moffatt Dr. Hyde Park where he was selected as Player of the Match.
Leinster champions Westmeath, who are in the hunt for a first award since 2008, have four players nominated — defenders Matthew Whitaker and Ronan Wallace, and forwards Brandon Kelly and Sam McCartan.
All-Ireland champions Mayo have 11 nominations, including Player of the Year nominees Ryan O’Donoghue and Jack Carney who will be vying with David Clifford for the main award.
Beaten Connacht finalists Galway have two nominations — Rob Finnerty and midfielder John Maher.
This year’s PwC GAA All-Stars banquet will take place in the RDS on Friday, October 30th.
