Éire Óg forward Conor Cox admitted after his side’s gutsy 2-7 to 0-12 county intermediate final success over Tulsk Lord Edwards that the relief was palpable.
After losing three of the past four county finals, Cox kicked 1-5 to ensure Éire Óg ended their recent heartbreak and secured senior football for 2027.
He praised the impact of John Rogers and Niall Daly since being added to the Éire Óg backroom team while also paying tribute to their vanquished opponents.
“It is a great feeling. It is more relief than anything else. I just think in the last 10 minutes against a strong wind, the benefits of having people like Niall Daly and John Rogers in the set up. We never really panicked and we just played to the whistle. Thankfully we got over the line.”
“A special word to Tulsk, a great team and we have been in their position lots of times. I know their manager Liam McNeill very well. A great football man. They have great leaders and they will be back. I have no doubt.”
