Win a Home in Kildare winner revealed by Roscommon GAA

Money raised from the Win A Home in Kildare fundraiser will be used to build the Dermot Earley Centre of Excellence just outside Roscommon Town.
The winner of Win a Home in Kildare — the latest fundraising venture by Roscommon GAA and Club Rossie — has been revealed this evening (Monday).
The winning ticket was unveiled at the draw in the Hodson Bay Hotel where one lucky person won a home in Newbridge, County Kildare, worth €360,000.
The winning ticket (number 08422), which was sold by St. Croan's GAA Club, was Thomas O'Brien, Ashbourne, County Meath.
Tim Hayes, Managing Director of the Hodson Bay Hotel Group, pulled the winning ticket.
The draw was overseen by an independent observer, Kilbride native Gerry Clarke.
While funds from the draw have been earmarked for the Dermot Earley Centre of Excellence just outside Roscommon Town, Club Rossie and Roscommon GAA will also make a contribution to the charity ONE (Organisation of National Ex-Service Personnel).
Club Rossie Chairperson, Pat Compton, revealed that tickets for the draw had been sold in 28 countries and every county in Ireland, adding that fundraising had become a "difficult and arduous task". However, he thanked Roscommon GAA's loyal support base who had rallied behind the draw — the third "win a house draw" undertaken by Club Rossie.
Roscommon GAA Treasurer, David O'Connor, noted that €5.5 million had already been secured in the form of a Government grant for the new Centre of Excellence, located on the Castlerea Road just outside Roscommon Town.
He also recalled that €300,000 had been raised for the project during Roscommon's trip to New York in 2016 for their Connacht SFC game.
He added that everyone associated with Roscommon GAA was striving "to leave a legacy" where future generations of male and female players in all codes could realise their potential.
Roscommon GAA Chairperson, Brian Carroll, echoed Mr O'Connor's comments, saying that he was passionate about the project and that he wanted to deliver it.
It was revealed that work on the new Centre of Excellence, named after one of Roscommon's greatest-ever footballers, is expected to begin in early spring 2025.
MC for the evening was Emmet Durney from Clann na nGael GAA Club.
