Young Roscommon woman savours week to remember on the pitch

A young County Roscommon woman enjoyed a week to remember, scoring a winning penalty in a championship game just a few days after making her adult debut at intercounty level.
St. Michael’s goalkeeper, Leah McCawley, lined out between the sticks for Roscommon against Sligo in the Connacht LGFA Intermediate Football Championship on Friday last, making her debut for the team on her home pitch of Ardcarne Park.
On Wednesday evening (yesterday), she captained the county minor ladies’ footballers in their provincial championship game against Sligo at Abbey Park, Boyle.
What’s more, she stepped up and converted a last gasp penalty to hand Roscommon a dramatic 4-4 to 0-14 victory.
Roscommon will now meet Sligo in the Connacht B final on Saturday, May 18th.
