Hat-trick of gold medals for County Roscommon competitors at National Community Games finals

The Taughmaconnell U-12 girls' seven-a-side soccer team that struck gold at last weekend's Cairn Community Games National Finals in Carlow.
It has been a weekend to remember for County Roscommon competitors at the Cairn National Community Games finals in Carlow.
Three sets of gold medals were won by three different areas in what was a hugely successful weekend for young athletes in Primrose and Blue.
The U-12 girls’ soccer team from Taughmaconnell were crowned the best team in Ireland when they defeated Stepaside, Dublin, 3-1, in their seven-a-side final.
The team were treated to a wonderful homecoming at Skyvalley Rovers FC's grounds on Sunday evening.
The team, who were coached by Catherine Costello and Louisa Brooks, included Meabh Finneran, Roisín Cleary, Ella Grehan, Amy Grehan, Kayla Galvin, Robyn Brooks, Laura Lyons, April Fox, Aiobheann Daly and Alice Galvin.

It was also a memorable weekend for the Roscommon/Kilteevan and Knockcroghery/St. John’s/Rahara areas as two of their athletes struck gold.
Emily Clyne, a member of Reeside AC, won the U-16 girls’ high jump for Knockcroghery/St. John’s/Rahara, while Ciarra Keane from Roscommon AC struck gold in the U-14 girls’ long jump for Roscommon/Kilteevan.
A number of silver and bronze medals were also won by County Roscommon competitors, making it one of the most lucrative hauls for Roscommon Community Games in recent years.
