The €1 million donated by Limerick businessman, JP McManus, has been divided out among the county’s clubs, last night’s meeting of Roscommon County Board was told.
Following a productive meeting between Roscommon GAA, Roscommon LGFA and Roscommon Camogie Boards, it was decided that the money would be divided out evenly between each registered men’s football, ladies’ football, camogie and handball club in the county — a total of 67 different entities.
With 34 registered men’s GAA clubs (including St. Coman’s and Lisacul Handball Club), 25 ladies’ football clubs and eight camogie clubs, each club will receive €14,925 each.
At last night's meeting, Roscommon County Board Chairperson, Brian Carroll, praised the co-operation between the GAA, LGFA and camogie boards in the county in bringing the matter to a successful conclusion.
