Medals galore for local athletes at Special Olympics Summer Games

Last weekend, local athletes represented their area with pride as they competed in a wide variety of events at the Special Olympics Summer Games.
Ballaghaderreen’s Danny O’Grady secured a gold medal in the 100m race while he also added a silver to his collection. Fellow runner Aoife Hegarty also claimed a gold medal and won two bronze medals.
Tibohine’s Conor O’Brien also won gold over the weekend while Aidan Thomas, from Roscommon Town, secured both a silver and bronze medal.
Dara Condron from Cloverhill enjoyed a terrific weekend as he won two silver medals and a merit ribbon.
Joe Keegan Grant secured a gold medal in walking and a silver in the softball throw. Josh Byrne from Lecarrow claimed a silver medal in the pool while Laura Casey also represented her county with distinction.
Meanwhile, Frankie Whyte (Athleague) and Anthony Connolly (Glenamaddy) performed admirably in football.
