Mixed afternoon for O’Rourke sisters in Bulgaria

It has been an afternoon for contrasting fortunes for the O’Rourke sisters at the 75th Strandja Memorial tournament in Sofia.
Paris-bound Aoife, who won the Strandja tournament in 2022, defeated her great rival Elzbieta Wojcik of Poland to reach the semi-finals and guarantee herself a bronze medal.
However, Aoife’s younger sister, Lisa, came up short in her 66 kgs quarter-final against Poland’s Aneta Rygielska on a 4-1 split decision.
Aoife will fight for a place in the final later this week.
