O’Rourke sisters boxing for European silver medals
Aoife and Lisa O'Rourke will be in action again today at the European Elite Championships in Bulgaria.
The O’Rourke sisters are boxing for European silver medals later today, Wednesday, at the European Elite Championships in Bulgaria.
Securing bronze medals yesterday, both Aoife and Lisa will be looking for medal upgrades in their respective semi-finals during this evening session’s in Sofia.
In Bout 4 in Ring A, Aoife, now a five-time continental medalist, will take on Russia’s Saltanat Medenova for silver and a place in the 75kg finals.
The double Olympian and reigning World champion will face Medenova, a 2025 IBA World champion, at around 4.45 p.m..
In the very next bout in Ring A, her sister Lisa, a World gold and silver medallist, takes on Ukraine’s Iryna Lutsak for a medal upgrade and a place in the 80kg finals.
Lutsak is a multiple European U-23 medallist and her fight with the Castlerea boxer is expected to get underway at about 5 p.m..
