A Roscommon boy broke a Connacht shot putt record that has stood for 18 years in Athlone.
Twelve-year-old Andrew Nolan from Lough Ree AC won the gold medal in the U-14 shot putt at the Connacht Indoor Athletics Championships, which were held International Indoor Arena, TUS, Athlone recently.
Andrew managed a throw of 14.01 metres, smashing the existing 18-year-old Connacht record, to qualify for the upcoming Nationals.
It was a hugely successful event for County Roscommon athletes — many of whom won medals and bettered their PBs (Personal Bests).
