Carrick RFC have cause to celebrate after Diarmaid O’Connell made his debut for Connacht.
O’Connell came off the bench for Connacht in their 26-14 win over Ealing Trailfinders at Dexcom Stadium on Saturday.
The back rower was a part of the Ireland side that finished second in the U-20 Six Nations earlier this year.
He also represented Ireland at the World Rugby Junior World Championship this summer.
O’Connell will hope to earn minutes for Connacht during their URC and European campaigns with Stuart Lancaster’s charges set to commence their season with a home game against the DHL Stormers on September 25th.
Fellow Carrick RFC man Liam McNamee also made his mark with the province as he crossed for a try in Connacht Eagles’ comprehensive win against Ulster A in the first game at Dexcom Stadium.
