It has been an afternoon to remember for Creggs RFC as the Roscommon/Galway border-based club retained their Connacht J1A League title in dramatic fashion at the Dexcom Stadium in Galway.
Last season, Brian Diffley became the first Creggs captain to lift the trophy in 27 years and he repeated the feat this afternoon.
In a thrilling finish, Creggs came with a late scoring burst to snatch the title from under the noses of their great rivals Connemara RFC.
Creggs trailed 19-14 at half time, and were 33-21 behind entering the closing stages.
But second-half tries from Mikey Dunne, Mark Dowd and Chris Duignan turned what looked like mission impossible into something very possible, and it was left to Shane Purcell to slot the winning penalty in injury time to procure a famous 36-33 victory.
