Brideswell native Darragh Murray is set to make his first appearance for the Irish senior rugby team.

Murray will make his debut against Georgia this Saturday after being named in the second row.

The Connacht player will form a second-row partnership alongside Cormac Izuchukwu as he will be Ireland men’s cap number 1,169.

Ireland’s Interim Men’s Head Coach Paul O’Connell has shown his faith in Murray by giving him his inaugural cap in what is the first game of a Two Test Series.

Murray was brought into the Irish camp ahead of the Six Nations showdown with France in March.

He has been a part of Ireland ‘A’ and Emerging Ireland sides over the past year with this call up the biggest moment of his career to date.

Craig Casey will captain Ireland for the first time against Georgia. Leinster winger Tommy O’Brien has been named to start and will receive his first cap this Saturday.

In all there are potentially four further debutants on the replacements bench with Munster duo Michael Milne and Tom Ahern as well as Connacht pair Jack Aungier and scrum-half Ben Murphy set to make their respective international bows.

Ireland will play Georgia this Saturday at 6 p.m. Irish time with the game broadcast live on Virgin Media.
