Saturday Sport: Leinster beat Edinburgh at the Aviva while Derry City win President's Cup

Rugby

After Munster's defeat to Glasgow last night, the other three Irish provinces are in URC action on Saturday.

Leinster were made to work hard for their bonus point victory in the URC this evening.

Scott Penny scored a hat trick of tries as they edged Edinburgh by 28 to 20 at the Aviva Stadium.

The visitors missed a late conversion to get their own bonus point.

Andrew Sparrow, Ciaran Mangan, and Ruben Moloney all made their first senior starts for Leo Cullen's side.

Connacht headed to Parma earlier and came away with a victory.

Despite being scoreless in the first half, the visitors beat Zebre 24-15.

Second half tries from Joe Joyce and two from Sean Jansen gave the away side the victory.

Ulster have welcomed Cardiff to Belfast where it was scoreless just after 8pm

GAA

Galway needed a late winner to see off Armagh in Division 1 of the National Football League.

Rob Finnerty tapped over a free with the final kick of the game to take the victory by 3-12 to 0-20.

It leaves both sides with a win and a loss from their opening two games.

Derry picked up their first win of their Division 2 campaign.

They held out Tyrone despite a late onslaught to win 1-15 to 1-12 at Celtic Park.

Elsewhere in that division, Kildare strolled to a 3-17 to 0-17 victory over Offaly.

In Division 3, Wexford made it two wins out of two with a 0-23 to 0-09 victory at home to Laois.

And at Netwatch Cullen Park, Carlow got the better of Wicklow by 1-15 to 2-9 in Division 4.

Hurling

Galway and Cork are locking horns in Division 1A of the hurling league,

The second half is underway in Salthill where it was Galway 1-09 Cork 0-11 just after 8pm

In Division 1B, Dublin are 2-4 to 0-2 up on Kildare in the first half at Parnell Park.

Soccer

League of Ireland

Derry City have won this season's President's Cup.

The Candystripes held on to beat double champions Shamrock Rovers in the curtain raiser this evening.

Darragh Markey's goal proved the difference at Tallaght Stadium, where it finished 1-0 to Derry.

Premier League

There are plenty of Premier League matches on the cards today.

Arsenal have re-established their seven-point lead at the top of the table this evening after a late Gabriel Jesus goal got them 4-0 up away to Leeds United at Elland Road.

Bottom side Wolves suffered a 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth, while Everton got a stoppage-time equaliser to draw 1-1 at Brighton.

Chelsea climbed into the top four after coming from behind to beat West Ham.

The Blues went from 2-0 down at half time to 3-2 winners at Stamford Bridge.

West Ham also had Jean Clair Todibo sent off late on.

Liverpool are hosting Newcastle this evening, with that one underway since 8pm at Anfield.
