County Roscommon soccer player receives international cap at presentation
Oisín Kelly who played for the Republic of Ireland schools' team.
Ballinlough native Oisin Kelly was recently honoured with an international cap at the U-18 Boys’ International Cap Presentation that took place in FAI HQ, Abbotstown last weekend.
Kelly, who started out with Castlerea Celtic before moving to Galway United and now plays for Sligo Rovers, was one of 21 players that were recognised on Saturday afternoon having been selected to represent their school at international level last season.
The Republic of Ireland finished mid-table with 6 points from two wins and two defeats in the 2025 SAFIB Centenary Shield.
The Galway United player’s exploits on the GAA field have been well documented as he was part of the Michael Glaveys/Éire Óg squad that claimed the U-17 Division One Championship in 2022.
He kicked 1-2 in last year’s Division One U-20 championship final loss, and in recent weeks lined out in both this year’s U-20 Division One and Junior B final deciders.
