Former Manchester City youth player takes over South Roscommon club
Philly Reilly is the new manager of Monksland United FC.
Monksland United FC — based in South Roscommon — has confirmed that Philly Reilly will be the club’s new first team manager for the 2026/27 season.
Reilly is a former Irish footballer from Loughrea who came through the youth ranks at Manchester City. He also had a spell at Stockport County before returning to Ireland to play in the League of Ireland, representing clubs including Galway United and Athlone Town.
Following his playing career, Reilly moved into coaching and player development, where he has worked extensively with young footballers in Ireland.
He has built a reputation as a coach focused on technical ability, player confidence, and developing pathways for talented young players, particularly at grassroots and academy level.
Last season. Philly led Ballinahown FC to the last 32 of the FAI Junior Cup after leading them to domestic league success in the Roscommon and District Football League.
